This book is very difficult to read. Augustine’s conversion was pretty cool to read. I’m gonna start lonesome dove so this isn’t the only thing I’m reading.

Super good so far. A lot to unpack and think about.

I’m starting to enjoy this book a lot more than at the start. McCarthy’s style of writing takes some getting used to, but the story is still really good.

Really enjoying this book. Theo is such a good character, and he reminds me of Samuel Hamilton from East of Eden. I’ve noticed a few allusions to different Scriptures that are brilliantly written.

I’ve only heard good things about this book, so I’m excited to finally read it.

Part 5 Complete
Such a good string of chapters. Katerina’s death and the way her whole family ends up is tragic. It’s so clear in this part that one of Dostoyevsky’s themes is that people are a product of their environment. Of course the speculation of Svidrigailov knowing Raskolnikov killed the old woman is crazy too.

Part Four Complete
This was probably my favorite part of the book so far. The cat-and-mouse game with Porfiry and Raskolnikov was really interesting to read. It reminds me of Death Note with L and Light. I’m interested to see where it goes from here.

Part Three Complete
This was another good part. Raskolnikov’s dream at the end was something right out of a horror movie. Porfiry and Raskolnikov’s discussion the chapter before was also something interesting to read. The book is definitely picking up, especially with multiple people who seem to know what Raskolnikov did.

Part Two Complete
This part is much more exciting than part one. It’s already evident that Rasknikov is kind of losing his mind, and his friends are even noticing it. I didn’t think I’d be upset about Marmeladov’s death, but seeing his family and the state they were in mad me feel for them. Enjoying this so far.

Part 1 complete
This first part of the book is pretty slow, but that’s how most books are with establishing the setting and characters. Even through translation it’s not too difficult to follow, and it’s a very interesting story. At the end, the two murders especially were well-written.

Enjoying this so far. I don’t know if it’s on the same level as Tuesdays With Morrie, but Eddie’s character along with the whole concept of the book is fascinating.

I really enjoyed reading Tuesdays With Morrie, so I’m excited to read this.
