The choice to make the free hives crafting focused rather then fight creates a unique duality where it seems obvious to the reader that the hives would be better together. But unfortunately there is some long standing scars between the free and normal hives that forces them apart. I would be very interested to see if Arther can pull together the two different types if hives to create on balanced city.

Love the fast introduction and the old trope of running into old friends is something I love when it is explored in books. Something we hopefully get to see is Arthur come in to his power a little more as Bix and him finally start to mature and grow together.

Incredible build from the first book. Though I could kind of guess were the book was heading, the how they got there or how events played out always kept me on my toes. This deeper dive into the world of the dragon riders kept me intrigued and on the edge of my seat each chapter. I recommend it to all that enjoyed the first book.
