This book is so gorgeously written but so heartbreakingly sad

The Body 4⭐ Coming of age story that was made into the movie Stand by Me. I liked this one, but again with the slurs. I just don't see the point of them.

The Apt Pupil. 2.5⭐ I was not a fan. This story had every trigger warning you could think of, but my least favorite was the graphic animal cruelty, the torture, and the slurs. Ugh. Not a fan of the ending either. What was the point of this.

3 of the 4 short stories in this book have been made into movies. I finished the first, Rita Hayworth & The Shawshank Redemption. I flew through it, and the film stays pretty true to the book, with a few small changes. I enjoyed both versions of the story and some of the best writing is quoted in the movie. I also enjoyed learning the details of each inmate's crime, which was left out of the movie.
