I’m not sure if this is a book I’ll keep. I love Emily Henry, but this book feels over saturated and a little slow. I’m hoping it’s just because it’s the second book she ever published.

It’s still great I’m just finding myself getting bored and needing to put it down for a little. I might pick up something else to read at the same time, and go by what I’m feeling in the moment.

So far, she’s done it again. I really like Goldbeck’s writing and characters. I can relate so closely to Sam, who is just accepting these breadcrumbs from this dude.

This book is actually two stories in one, and I just finished the first. It reads like a film noir detective book, only it takes place in the 1940s when a lot of Japanese citizens were repatriated. I had to Google what that meant because I didn’t remember or know, but a lot of Japanese people did not want to return, the murder culprit of the story included.
