Everything about this book is annoying the hell out of me. From the monster who speaks in third grade poetry to the FL who is the most uninteresting monster possessed character I’ve ever read. I want to finish this but 80 more pages may be my undoing.

Why does every second character have an unnecessary Y in their name? Just name them Alec, Alex, Jasper, & Raven NOT Alyc, Alyx, Jaspyr, & Ravyn. Absolutely no need for this it’s annoying & adds nothing.

The monster is speaking in Dr Seuss rhymes and I hate it.

In her darkest moment Emma is thinking about, how Jace told her to stand straight & Clary talking to her about what constitutes a hero…. Please stop bringing other characters into this story that seriously have no business being brought up except to remind the reader that your other characters are markedly better in all aspects.

Julian and his Messiah complex are seriously just too much.

I hate everything about this book…. I used to eat this kind of stuff up but now? Meh. Her writing is even annoying me. I am going to push through on this one because I need to feel something even if that feeling is hate.

Why is Emma suddenly calling Christina by Tina? They have been fighting & training together for 8 months & I’ve been reading this book for 450 pages & she just randomly decides to call her by a nickname? This the kinda stuff that drives me crazy about Clare’s writing, she is one of the most inconsistent writers I’ve read & that’s saying something,

I’m sorry these are some of her worst characters & by that I mean they are just recycled from her past stories. It’s really frustrating because her TMI & CP characters were fun & different but these characters grate on me. She can still spin a yarn though I’ll give her that much.

So Shadowhunters have smartphones but not words for autism, depression or ADHD???

The way she writes Tavvy, a seven year old male child, is beyond strange & moronic. At one point he was finger painting & had paint in his hair… seriously at this age??? That old adage “Write what you know” should be applied here because there is no way Clare has met or hung out with a seven year old child.

“Ty-Ty, said Livvy. It had been an Emma’s nickname for Tiberius since he was a baby. Since then the whole family had adopted it.” Really? Because I’m 200 pages in and this is the first time any of them had used it.

Mark’s back! Wait…who the f is Mark?!??

Okay so Clare just gender swapped these new MCs right? Emma is the female Jace (sarcastic & reckless) & Julian is the male Clary (artistic & clueless), right?

Every time I read Clare I am reminded that she has never met or interacted with a child in her life.

“He was tall and narrow, dressed in a long coat the color of raven feathers.” For the love of God just say black! I forgot how overly descriptive Clare can be.😫

Well I’ve been out of the loop for 10 years now but I’m ready to give this a go!

I will read this for the characters names alone. Also I’m 25 pages in and the darkness of this book is already apparent AND I am loving it!

Oh my God - Grandpa Gus calling Jonah intentionally wrong names was great but the I realized they are all male characters from Twilight and I am dying!! 😂

If Morley doesn’t turn out to be the Victorian Batman I need right now so help me...

Not even through the prologue and I am already weeping...

So I was really enjoying this story until it was reveled that the hero is roughly 25.... ummm no that doesn’t work for me. He is a Creative Director at an advertising agency and he apparently “worked his way to the top”... At. 25. I am usually a master of suspending disbelief but this is too much even for me. Why would the author not make him closer to early 30s much more believable.
