When my daughter was two we bought her a collection of Roald Dahl books. It’s like a whole box set of like 15. This is one of them.

I also suggested James and the Giant Peach. She wanted this one. Perfect for Halloween.

She really liked The BFG when we read it years ago. Here’s hoping this isn’t too scary. We stopped after the chapter that said witches can’t get you in your bed when you sleep.

Meth addict goblins is crazy.

My therapist is encouraging me to take 30 minute walks. So this is what I’m listening to during those walks. I only finished the first chapter, but it’s pretty crazy. I’m afraid I won’t retain as much as I should since I prefer to read my books, but we’ll see what happens.

This has slowed down a lot. Following 3 characters, but only 2 of them really interest me so that makes things harder. The view of Gilead from the outside feels boring.

I’m enjoying this one more than The Handmaid’s Tale. Both are good books. This one being from the perspective of the young girls of Gilead is a nice change. Following 3 main characters is nice.

I’ve already clocked some of what I’m guessing is supposed to be the “twist” later on. Confirmed with the wife.

This is going to be a quick read. The mystery is winding up nicely. The burn is pretty slow, but feels good getting the details the way they are put out. I have a few suspects already, but it’s hard to say if they are red herrings or not yet. Alma is for sure going to play a MUCH bigger part in this then is being let on.

I think my favorite character is dead. Fuck this book.

Jumping into Book 3. The home stretch. Our boys have a long walk ahead of them. I just know Stu or Larry die before this book ends.

We are in the pre climax.

We’re in the home stretch! If I was going to put it down it would have been somewhere at the beginning of Book 2, but we’re at the point where there are literal knots in my stomach waiting on what’s going to happen.

Some heartbreaking things have happened, but mostly emotional and not because of deaths.

I honestly feel sad for Harold at this point in the book, and he was, and still is, kind of a shit.

About 2/3rd of the way through the book.

A part of the last chapter was a fucking dog flashback.

Book 2 is starting to come to a head. Pieces are moving and I’m waiting for major events that I don’t want to spoil to happen. It’s gonna be a few hundred more pages before it does I think, but antagonists are being built. Looking forward to the showdown.

Officially halfway through the book.

Book 2 has picked up a little, but it’s not gripping like Book 1. Following Stu and Frannie had been a highlight though. Next up is Trashcan man and I’m honestly excited for it because he is one of the people I expect to turn to Randall Flagg.

It’s neat seeing part of the villain’s POV. They are als usually more action packed.

Book 1 finished. Book 2 is a little longer, but somehow less chapters, so I think we’ll be following less characters.

There were a few characters who have already turned to Randall Flagg (he’s the big bad guy), and you could tell who would based on their personality.

There are others on the fence, but I can see a redemption arc/heroic sacrifice type situation.

Glad I don’t remember the mini series.

Here’s the thing about Stephen King, I really enjoy how he writes books, but sometimes I don’t need to know what happened to a person, who isn’t a main character, who is about to die, when they were 7.

Anyway, I’m really enjoying this. Really makes me want to pick up and read more King, but I have other reading obligations.

Just gonna sprinkle some in every now and then.

I tried to read this years ago and DNF’d it. Got mostly through Book 1. I think I had King burnout at the time. Gonna complete it this time.

Almost halfway through this book and the sexiest thing was a dude saying the word “pussy.”

I like the Harper chapters more than the Nolan chapters.

It’s not terrible, I was just expecting more from my first smut book.

I was expecting more sexy time and less killing, but I’m strangely happy it’s the other way around.
