During WWII, Japan lacked supplies from the U.S., such as oil, scrap metal, and iron ore. These resources, especially oil and steel, crippled Japan's military supplies as it relied heavily on these resources. Due to the war, the U.S. was not sending any of these supplies to the Japanese. And therefore, the Japanese started to plan a full-scale attack on the military base in Hawaii called Pearl Harbor.
