This book pays homage to the storyteller and not the story itself. A story too often heard and everytime overlooked. Nice to finally see and feel the context.

Chapter 27 was sublime.

The end of Part One was one of the most heartless moments I have read. There is a part of me that is praying she makes it through, but at the same time reading this booked comes with such a deeply healed mind set. Of course she does. I think Sarah Perry delivers eloquence. Toni Morrison said “sometimes we don’t survive whole, we survive in pieces.” Well survival nonetheless.

This book is like carrying an egg. Thoughts, moments, memories so delicately crafted and beautifully placed.

The first chapter is such a delicate description of her Mom. Tenderly written words.
