when my course was called “bogs and moors in english and irish literature,” i honestly didn’t expect that i’d actually be reading a book about BOGS

oh how i love this quote. how deeply it feels intertwined with me. how i read this entire chapter with a knot in my chest every single time.

i just told my german professor the turkish title of the play and his immediate reaction was “that sounds like a tongue twister,” as if EIN SOMMERNACHTSTRAUM is exactly the pinnacle of pronounceability.

the painfully familiar feeling of being unlovable in this book is going to kill me one day.

oh how i missed my absolute favorite EVER

despite being so deeply invested in the story, my one real issue with this book is that i have to finish it in four days, because there’s no way i'm taking a fucking 600 page brick on my flight.

now that i've read babel, dare i say... yellowface might not be a five-star after all. don't get me wrong, it's still incredible, but babel was on a whole different level. there were so many moments where i literally got chills, like real, full-body chills. now i'm going to read the poppy war trilogy and katabasis, but i can't help wondering... what could possibly top THIS? we'll see.
