It's very annoying when the narrator of an audiobook puts their own, over the top emotion into every sentence. Of course, they have to put some emotion in it, but sometimes it's so over the top that it stops you from forming your own opinions on what is happening and why. I've almost stopped listening to this book a few times because of it. I'm pushing through though because the story itself is good.

I don't know how I've not read this yet. Stephen King originally published this in 1984 under the pseudonym Richard Bachman.
There's lots of cringeworthy moments that reflect the times - including gender specific roles as standard and use of the "n" word. That is a little uncomfortable but what is actually happening is terrifying in a very clever and typically Stephen King way.

I've found an audio version online and am so excited to start this!!

This is not storytelling. It's just "telling". It's boring, far fetched and I hate to write this but I really can't find one good thing about it except that it's short. I don't even know why I'm still listening.

I cannot express how boring this is. What am I actually reading. I'll keep listening as it's not very long but not sure I'm going to make it to the end.

Omg this book starts off with a bang!!! Only 30% through but the drunken birthday speech at the start is definitely worth picking the book up for!

This book came with high recommendations, otherwise, I would have stopped long ago. It's not the type of book I normally enjoy. Just goes to show, you just can't trust recommendations. I can't believe I had this book on hold for months! Some people must like it.
At the moment, it's equivalent to an old Mills and Boon storyline. With one fifth to go, there is still a chance that my mind could be changed.

I've had this book on hold for months and months and it finally came in and wow is it creeping me out!! So far I'm loving it but I'm not sure how I'm going to sleep tonight.
