I think that the spell was turned against the wizard… her father put a think in her head, and made it the life goal for Cassie.
Then he’s mad because she want to fight for it, but at the end for him its ok but of course for her it’s not because this goal was hers SINCE DAY 1!!
So yes, Cassie is a strong independant woman and is doing what she really want to archive her goal and will do everything for it.
