Hiraki is a genius, transcends the genre. His art is so unique, no other manga artist has been as influential as him (maybe Toriyama). The early volumes are classic shonen, it doesn’t really hit its stride till Stardust Crusaders but these early volumes are classic tales.

I read the English version, about the first 100 volumes. It just keeps going and going. It’s not that good at first, but once it crystallizes as a super-powered wrestling manga it is pretty entertaining. Kinnikuman is a funny lovable underdog and the character designs are creative. Fight scenes are well done.

This book… has saved my life in ways.
