Skipped a few chapters because I wasn’t enjoying the focus on cognitive and animal studies. Much prefer the discussion about real world implications.

So far, I’ve learned that we need to distinguish between free and genuine expression of masculinity and patriarchal masculinity.

Patriarchal masculinity tells men that they are not valued by society unless they are in control - both of themselves and others. This translates to dominating and degrading those with perceived weakness - women, children and men who do not align with patriarchal masculinity.

Already loving it!

Just finished the preface. I don’t think I’ve been so hooked by a book so early on.

I think there is some irony in the fact I haven’t finished this book. Let alone barely started…
