Late-4/27. CONFLICT: The main conflicts of the books are character vs. character and character vs. self. it is character vs. character, because Adam struggles with people trying to steal O'Keefe's scientific discoveries. It is also character vs. self, because Adam struggles internally with trust, temptation, and making good decisions about who to believe. Adams choices determine certain and important things.

Late-3/23. POV: The book is told in third-person point of view, following the perspectives from Dulce and Julian for the most part of the story. For example it says, "I stop at the open kitchen door and survey the scene beyond." It is third person because the narrator says "I" and "Our" and shares Dulce's personal thoughts and feelings.

MAKING CONNECTIONS: I can make a few connections from this book to how the world is today. One connection I made was Greed vs. helping people. Today, we see some companies dealing with this when sometimes somebody cares more about making money than helping people. Another connection I made was about fake people. The character Kali seems nice but shes actually using Adam. This relates to toxic interaction today.

INCITING INCIDENT: The inciting incident in the book is an important event that is when Poly is kidnapped. Adam eventually rescues her from the kidnappers with help of Typhon Cutter. During the flight from Madrid to Lisbon, Poly ask's Adam to take her to the Ritz. Shortly after this, she goes to the airplane's restroom and completely vanishes from the flight. My topic is visualize. The story describes so far how the character Adam Eddington makes his way to Portugal. I can visualize what Portugal looks like when it says, "Ugly apartments crowded upon beautiful old houses with walled gardens... There were many billboards of American products like Pepsi-cola, Coca-cola, and toothpaste." This helps me visualize what the city of Madrid looks like and how it surprised Adam.

Characterization. Dulce shows and feels hope and sympathy and expresses courage during this time because she explains how her restaurant's recipes have been passed down for generations and eventually passed down to her. She says on page 245, "My family will lose something important to us." She thinks that she can have a cook off where she and her friends make tacos and special food to promote to save the restaurant.

Inciting incident. The inciting incident in the book is when at the beginning of the book it talks about Susannah's death. Belly explains how her life will not be the same and in the beginning it seems as if she does not want to do anything like go to parties or hang out. It explains how Taylor pushes Belly into having fun or feeling happy but Belly tries to explain that nothing will feel the same without Susannah.

I have made a connection from this book to the world. This reminds me of problems with wealth. In the book it talks about starving and some people relying on others to live. It also connects to rebellion. This is because Katniss's journey is a symbol of rebellion with the "Mockingjay" as a symbol of people rebelling and protesting.

The main plot of the book is rebirth. It is rebirth because at the beginning of the book it talks about how summer will never be the same to Belly because her family friend, Susannah died. Belly explains how it's so shocking that it doesn't feel real. She talks about how this summer she will not go back to Cousins Beach for the summer even though she has gone every summer. (2) Her friend Taylor tries to comfort her.

This fictional place takes place in Panem. Its a dystopian futuristic place also it has the capitol. The district around it (like district twelve), but districts like 1 or 2 are closer to the capitol. Here, the tributes play the hunger games and fight to survive. There is enclosed arenas to play the games in. At the beggining, all the players are together and get chosen for the games with papers in a bowl.

Yes. In the book I have read where some of these mental images popped up. On page 9, Katniss says, "The day is glorious with a blue sky and soft breeze. The food's wonderful, with the cheese seeping into the warm bread and the berries bursting in our mouths." This made me visualize how the foods tasted and how the environment looked and felt. These moments make it feel real, it was a happy scene.

The character in the book Katniss, feels a good connection with Gabe. On page 291 where she says "I gingerly lift my hand to my head and find it bandaged..Peeta holds a bottle to my lips and I drink thirstily. This shows that they care for each other. Another reason is Katniss feels protective at the beginning of the book. On page 27 she says "I could never let that happen to Prim..The community would crush her."

The antagonist of the book is Cato. Cato is the main rival of Katniss and Peeta in the arena who is very determined to win. It says on page 182 where it says, "No. says Cato, pushing the bow. Ill do better with my sword. I can see the weapon, a short, heavy blade at his belt. This shows that he has the right weapons to fight and this is showing that he is one of the biggest competitors.

Katniss Everdeen is a dynamic character. She is a dynamic character because in the book she says, "Everyone is my enemy. Except Gale. My hunting partner, the person who has my back. There's nothing to do but move forward, killing whoever comes into our path. This shows about her consistent survival instinct and her distrust of other people. This is what makes Katniss Everdeen a dynamic character.

The book I'm reading takes place where the main character named Katniss deals with the character vs. society conflict. I found this evidence on page 18 where it says, "In punishment for the uprising, each of the twelve districts must provide one girl and boy... The twenty four tributes will be imprisoned in a vast outdoor area that could hold through anything. This proves that the 24 tributes fight each other.

From what I read so far, Gale and Katniss are hunters and they are hunting for food. I predict that they are going to the reaping. I think they are going to the reaping because on page 1 it says "Seeking Prim's warmth... She must have had bad dreams... of course, she did. This is the day of the reaping. I think they are going to the reaping because it was mentioned pretty early in the book so it must be important.

In this book, the point of view is first person. You can tell that this is first person because on page 11 where she says "I sat up and said, okay." "As soon as Conrad left, I closed my door and went over to the mirror . I took my hair out of my braids and brushed it." This shows that the story is 1st person because it is Belly (the main character) talking about what she is doing and the POV is focused on Belly.

The main character of The Summer I Turned Pretty is Belly or Isabel. She has black hair and grey eyes who is at the age of 15 and 16 in the book. By Belly's peers Jeremiah, Conrad, and her brother Steven, she is kind of known as the little sister and is kind of left out or called a crybaby. Belly dates someone named Cam but feels like she doesn't like him anymore when her heart belongs to Conrad deep down inside.

The setting of the story is in the year of 2009. It takes place in the city of the fictional town, Cousins Beach in Wilmington, North Carolina where the summer house is located. One scene from the book in chapter 1, Belly says "We have been going to Susannah's beach house in Cousins Beach every summer ever since I was a baby, since before I was even born." This shows that Belly has been to Cousins Beach for a while.

This book is fiction and a genre of romance. I know that this book is about romance because in the book, Belly has a crush on Conrad because she explains how she feels about him from what I have read so far. I also think it is realistic fiction because in the book it makes sense and sounds like something that would happen in real life and it talks about real life scenarios. This shows that this book has many genres.

Every summer, Belly goes to a summer house to visit a friend of her mom's named Susannah. Susannah has 2 sons: Conrad and Jeremiah. The book is pretty interesting so far, even with some drama in it. In the chapter I recently read, they all had a dinner together and then after it explains that Belly's brother Steven, Jeremiah, and Conrad were going to the beach to set up a fire but they left Belly out.
