Okay well after that last section, I am so happy to see Jude improving in his mental health and finally in a good relationship! Willem is such a great man. It’s sad to see how much he’s struggling to open up still

I know something is about to go wrong with Brother Luke, is this when he gets in a car accident? Or do they get caught? AGHHH

Took a little hiatus from reading this… the chapter was so devastating to read. The chapters written from Harold’s perspective are always beautiful but SO sad. First hearing about his first son’s death and then his perspective on what happened with Caleb.

Damn I don’t think I agree with Dr Hale making Luke break into his house. It’s her fault she slashed someone’s tires. Maybe she’s not the good guy after all

EJ was just talking about his parents dying, and how he would have so much money from an inheritance. And Ethan obviously has a lot of money and dead parents. Wtf

No way that Ethan is the same Ethan from the tapes… also the picture being hung back up so CREEPY

Good start! I like books like this written from multiple perspectives

I love reading about how all of his friends help him and care about him. I love how throughout the past chapter Jude has been imagining himself when he is older in different ways. I hope JB is okay AAA

Finally something happy happens to Jude!

This book is starting to get really sad though, Jude’s life at the monastery is described in a way that destroys you. Especially the eluding to the one Brother he trusted the most (Brother Luke) doing something terrible to him.
The chapter written from Harold’s perspective was beautiful, I liked hearing the story from a first person perspective instead of a third person perspective for a chapter.

Starting to learn more about Jude’s childhood. It’s good to hear about stuff from his perspective in this second section.
The part about Ana getting sick was really sad.

Finished the first section and I already can tell I’ve gotten myself into a very emotional book. The character development has been amazing so far. I hate how Willem is approaching finding out that Jude cuts himself, but I also understand why it’s so hard for him to say something to him about it. But for the love of god PLEASE do. I’m a little nervous to read the rest of the book in all honestly.

Loving it so far! Hanya Yanagihara’s writing is beautiful and I feel like I already know the characters so well.
