I’m listening to the audio version on a long trip. The writing is poetic and dreamy, full of sensory details like how heavy sheets feel on the body. The themes of pregnancy, motherhood, adoption, indigenous rights, women’s rights, home, and identity are woven into delicate and savory prose, with suspense in every chapter.

Eye-opening journalistic triumph. Hao sheds light on the dark side of AI, its major players, history, and drama of the leading developers.

Great positive writing on sustainable steps to live better! The format is interview style—Johnson interviews environmental leaders and artists on their visions for the future and their thoughts on climate change.

Good so far!

Fast paced and easy to understand. A little wordy for my taste.

It goes fast and is engaging even for a grownup. It’s a wonderful review of grammar terms and I’m hoping to participate in the Global Read Aloud.

The book bounces around a lot. The characters relate to the characters in Evan’s previous book, Visit from the Goodsquad. There are passages that are hard to get through, but also passages that are impossible to put down, like when Noreen sneaks into Stephanie’s house in search of Jules.

I’m reading with my daughter and the traditions around menstruation around the world are enlightening. What a gift of words and tradition often hidden in our culture.

I’ve put it down and picked it up a number of times. The book incorporates social media, social science, math, and family dynamics in creative ways. Time and setting bounce around a lot and are non-chronological. One of my favorite segments is about a trash artist in California whose work is best understood from hot air balloon rides.
