This seems to be a bit higher rated than their other work which is interesting - it’s definitely different, the voice is simultaneously more confident in its style and less unique in its language, and it has less of the sentences that I’ve loved in their work in the past, but the ideas are good and the flashback chapter is excellent

Frankly I wish I understood why when I asked Claude for “recommendations of books similar to my writing style” it recommended me two books that spend more time than needed describing the erections of children 14 and younger

When a man deus ex Machinas with a character in book 1, perhaps you should expect him to deus ex Machina with the same character with slightly more setup in book 3

What an absolute beast of a character arc for the young man, unlike Vis Telimus from Will of the Many

Interesting the twists in this one so far - I think one was obviously being set up throughout the whole trilogy and one was obviously just thought of for this book lmao

Poor fantasy works like Will of the Many often fail to insert political commentary even when it is incredibly relevant to the system of governance. This series has always done a good job of that

The great thing about multi perspective is that you have to write more than one character. I will say, I don’t think Will of the Many would have been more successful with multi perspective because it couldn’t even do one character in any particularly interesting way.
