it's very sad to read about the baby girl, especially knowing that there are several cultures that committed infanticide against their daughters in favor of sons. it feels good that the kids did manage to leave though! I don't think many city people would be able to live in a tribal situation for very long given the vast differences in technology, culture, and such.

The sneaking out plan is a great rep of "strict parents raise sneaky kids"

Easy to read so far, I have to pause on the words that aren't english but the context is enough around it. really unfortunate that it's 5 AM and I have to go to bed (crying emoji)

none of the children act like children. I keep forgetting they're supposed to be kids. The dialogue at the beginning of chapters continues to throw me off every time it happens, especially because it hardly names speakers and has the different typeface. Children taking over the world via debate column was a wierd way to timeskip. I din't hate the book but I'm not really enjoying it either

This was reccommended to me by the librarian as a popular book. I am not really drawn to keep on reading by any curiosity of what is coming, and the speaking interactions in a different typeface at the beginning of each chapter pull me out of any gained immersion. I will continue reading primarily due to interest in the way gravity and tech is described and my own dislike for leaving things unfinished.
