i read more than i thought over my busy weekend away but forgot to track lol.
i’m rly enjoying the themes of gender in this book it was something that i just wasn’t expecting & it’s really well written - from the grandad, the sister, the partner and the greek mythology.

really really enjoying this so far, it’s beautifully written & very thought provoking tbh.
novels that choose the stylistic choice of “no speech marks” usually bother me but i’m actually finding this pretty easy to read so props to you ali smith, you’re a master of your trade.

these short chapters kinda representing his “clarity” if i can even call it that idk. the longer ones do feel like we’re overthinking everything together.. it only needs to make sense to me alright!

the way that it’s been written from chapters 1-3 felt quite messy & hard to read, but after that chapter 4 reveal everything feels cleaner and easier to digest; to me at least. i found this rly interesting.

i was really rooting for yozo & boom.. misogyny! it has been interesting to see him kinda grow a bit and start appreciating women more but only after the tragedy rly.
he really doesn’t know himself very well it seems. i think he sounds like a kid a nice guy with a truly fucked up sense of self, who had to find something to blame his problem on internally.
