Never mind. They’re both awful, evil people. Still some of the best writing I’ve ever encountered… but jeez that cat scene was a little much. Who’s the protagonist here? Rubber Ed? Such a brutal, awful, fun read.

Stephen King is genuinely the greatest author of all time in my opinion. In about 30 pages he made me feel empathy and pity for a Nazi that was confirmed to kill over 3,500 people in the holocaust and on the other hand FEAR, genuinely fear, a normal 13 year old American boy. That’s powerful character development and storytelling in such a short amount of time. I’m ready to see where this goes…

I was having a hard time with this book, mostly differentiating it from the movie and Kathy Bate’s performance… until she made him drink essentially mop water to wash down his pills. This Annie Wilkes is a different animal entirely and I’m fully into the novel now.
