My current theory is that Alicia was cheating with someone else and this individual was deeply jealous of Alicia and Gabriel’s relationship. Overcome with jealousy this individual kills Gabriel to be with Alicia but something goes wrong; probably rage from Alicia, however Alicia still cares for both people and takes blame herself.

I love how new clues keep getting revealed about Alicia and how there is slow but some progress in her therapy sessions. I found the painting she made of Theo and her in front of the burning grove odd. I kind of doubt it’s of Theo and her and that’s just how he interpreted it.

I’m so genuinely disappointed in Theo not confronting Kathy about cheating. Continuing a dysfunctional relationship is much more torturous than just to bite the bullet and cut them off once and for all.

Goddamnit Kathy! Is this really gonna be a cheating trope. From the beginning the writing feels blunt and devoid of emotion as Theo is the one recounting past events and he is described as a “broken” individual, but damn this shit is getting depressing.

Incredibly excited to see how Theo’s relationship with Alicia progresses but I’m worried it might lead to a problem with his marriage. Please don’t go the infidelity route.

I am already loving this book. I am looking forward to uncovering the mystery of the murder, how Theo is going to go about healing Alicia, and how their relationship forms and how he will act in front of the other patients of the grove. I am HYPED!!

Henry Cameron: Henry has always been in Evelyn’s life and has been the pillar she could always rely on. Their relationship is not fully platonic but it’s not fully romantic or lustful or dependent either. They truly were acting as each other’s home base; trying to be that constant in each other’s lives.

Rex North: Rex is introduced as a notorious womanizer, however is the most amicable marriage Evelyn has had so far. Both parties entered the marriage for the money and fame it would bring them while still having the freedoms of being single.
While it might be the result of the environment that Rex and Evelyn have adapted to, they are both very self centered individuals.

Mick Riva: Both Evelyn and Mick we’re simply trying to take advantage of each other to get what they wanted. Mick came off as very misogynistic as he always assumed he was the one in control and that all women are beneath him and within his reach. This power fantasy comes with him being a famous heartthrob among women and was only reinforced after Evelyn gave him what he wanted.

The marriage of Don Adler started as a young love story where Evelyn was so blinded with love and infatuation towards Don she did not allow any space in her mind to doubt him in any way until it was too late. Evelyn, now trapped once again in an abusive relationship had to focus on restraint until the moment she could no longer maintain her sanity.

There is 100% chemistry between Celia and Evelyn. Celia might be the one true love of Evelyn’s life.

Don Adler is an egotistical, emotionally unstable man-child.

Ernie Diaz: It’s upsetting and regretful that a child has to resort to such nasty methods to save themselves and continue to do so to get ahead. Ernie embraced ignorance to save himself from potential moral discrepancies even if there was reason to doubt. A dysfunctional relationship from start to end, although so far seems like it ended better than it started.

NEW THEORY!! Monique is the child of an unfortunate relationship with Evelyn Hugo. Evelyn then abandoned the relationship and gave the child to adoptive parents.
