It's amazing how having an S.O. can change such a small thing like how one receives romance books. Before, I used to dream of having a partner like the ones I read about. Now, I relish in how my husband and I fit into these love stories and how bookish our love can be at times.

I've been really vibing with this one, especially since I'm reading it at a time when I've been feeling a dip in my mental health. It's nice to feel connected to an MC who's also struggling (mentally, that is...I'm not a vampire).

Wow, this one really just starts right off with that backflap knowledge. I read so much 3rd person that I'm quite curious to see how this one reads in 1st!

"Percy, some of the chains [stores] multiply so fast because all their locations are magically linked to the life force of a monster."

Gah, I just love how Riordan connects our modern world to kids of Greek gods and their world. It's especially perfect since so much of their mythology is just explaining why things are, and I love this explanation of how franchises happen so fast.
