And now for something more fun to read…..if you believe the sinking of the Lusitania is fun….but I do like Eric Larson!

Oh would that our politicians were philosopher kings, as Plato envisioned in his idealized Republic!

Well, it’s a bit of a slog…..certainly nothing like a Dan Brown novel…..but I like to think I’m stretching my mind.

Plato is constructing the perfect State to illustrate his point that justice is better than injustice.

The State that only teaches/exposes its children to virtuous stories. Only allows them to practice “good” gymnastics and only lets them listen to virtuous music.

Jumped right into a discussion of justice versus injustice and whether one be more profitable than the other. Initially trying to say that injustice is the more profitable path. (Maybe Trump read this before me?)

Now Socrates is constructing his imaginary State to illustrate the point that justice be the better of the two. He’s about to shred Glaucon and Adeimantus with the force of his argument.
