Ford and Rosie are slowly coming to terms with their feelings for each other, although reluctant to fully acknowledge it. Both seem to struggle with their attraction due to different reasoning, creating an intriguing tension. Ford’s daughter, Cora, playfully notices the connection and drops hints, which is super amusing to me. I find Ford and Rosie’s dynamic really cute, and I’m enjoying the book so far!

The narrative is quite dense and sometimes chaotic. The range of perspectives and complex dynamics among the characters can be overwhelming, making it difficult to fully engage with the story. I appreciate the intricate themes of art and human connection amidst crisis, yet the pacing often feels erratic. I’ll set this book aside for now and return when I’m in the right mindset to appreciate its depth and nuance.

Tate was devastated when a video, which she believed Jared had sent, surfaced. Questioning his recent kindness, she lashed out, even damaging his car. But the video was actually sent by Jared's ex, who had stolen his phone. They eventually uncovered the truth and reconciled. Can you say dramaaaa? Also causing Tate to experience a whirlwind of conflicting emotions! I hate that for her 😕

Tate and Jared have come together. He allowed her to drive his car, seems to be something out of the ordinary. After Tate breaks into Jared’s bedroom, he find her and things get a bit…spicy. Jared finally admits his love for her. Eventually Jared gives some insight on his actions over the years and info as to where his scars came from (father). Madoc and Jared take Tate to prom. Madoc means to mend relationship.

Reminds me a Wattpad romance. But then again maybe that’s what I was expecting. From enemies to lovers? Interesting take, however typical. I like Tate’s resistance in a sense. What’ll happen with Madoc? Other than that black eye lol. Will Jared’s shell crack? Eventually… to be continued

Hottest Billionaire Ford back home renovating and expanding music business. Daughter (Cora) finds him (sperm donor) after father dies and mother depressed. Rosie’s boss SA her, her boyfriend tells her to ignore it. Rosie gets fired and goes back home to Rose Hill. Weston has 2 kids. Ford always attracted to Rosie, she seems attracted as well. Ford is 32 y.o.

Not bad of a read so far. Wattpad vibes.

Rufe sells some slaves Dana befriends. Hagar is born and Alice plans to run away with her children, despite risks. Rufus allows his child and other slave children to be educated by Dana. Dana takes care of Rufe’s mother whom begins to like her. Other field slaves grow jealous of Dana bc of Rufe treatment toward her. Rufe ends up hitting Dana (1st time). She goes back home and returns to Alice’s suicide.

Upon Dana’s return to Weylin house, Rufe is found drunk and sick to which Dana nurses back to health. Tom Weylin dies (ha?). Rufe blames Dana, sending her to fields. She is worked and whipped to unconsciousness. Rufe announces his sick mother’s return and assigned Dana to take care of her. Rufe plans for Alice to have another child which leaves, Dana hopeful of ancestor Hagar (solidifying her future birth).

Dana assist Alice & hubby with getting away after R tries to SA her. Alice brought back by Rufus, taken in for his personal pleasures. Rufus never sent Dana’s letters for Kevin, surprisingly his father T.W. sent a letter to K. K shows up. D&K escape running into Rufus who tries to kill them resulting K&D returning to present. K struggle w/ time changes due to experiences past 5 years.

Dana finally returned back to her home after 2 months, bc Tom Weylin whipped her due to reading. However, her husband Kevin was too late to reach her to which she was on her own for about 8 days. She returned back to the past when Rufus was around 18, because Alice’s husband nearly killed him for attempted SA. Kevin ended up leaving, Dana plans to find him. Weylin & Nigel aware of Dana’s travel.

This book is actually really good. Further into it than my other current read, Torment. Kindred keeps this intriguing and the main character is easy to like. Looking forward to more!

I haven’t been reading it much at all. I think it’s because it moves so slow and the small bursts of action, the build up to events are so slow. Even the romance factor.. almost seems a bit repetitive. So far .. Daniel brings Luce’s previous dream & tells her of moments in here other lives. Including their first encounter. Magically fits her huge suitcase into her tiny trunk. He takes her to the new school.

in the prologue, Daniel and Cam are forming an alliance for 18 days in order to protect Luce. which involves killing those who are after Luce. The two come to an agreement, please attend a new school (Shoreline) until her safety is mostly insured. Daniel, conflicted as he is not sure he can be away from her too long. Luce must still figure out her past on her own.

Luce meets up with Cam off school grounds. Luce plans to tell Cam she isn’t interested romantically. He puts the necklace on her. Daniel appears to pickup Luce from the bar amidst Cam’s fight (unbelievable strength). Daniel and Luce are seeing and uncovering more info about them both really. Whattttt elseee?

Chapter 15. Recap (Ch.14) Luce in some sort of a slump due to a weird dream involving Cam AND Daniel. Cam attempts to hang with Luce again. While at the library with Penn, they find more info on Daniel’s family history and… Daniel attacks Cam bc he kisses Luce. Resulting in a fight between the two until a staff member breaks it up. Wow, ok lol

Just finished Chapter 13. Recap : Luce back from the hospital, Todd’s memorial service, Daniel slowly warming up to Luce, Cam still trying to swoon Luce. And Parent’s Day. The Price family visited for lunch and a cemetery tour (Penn joined). Penn & Luce visited P’s dad’s grave. Luce spots Daniel alone & realizes that he has no one but himself to which she feels selfish bc she hadn’t known before.

In the midst of Pen and Luce’s search in the library (on Daniel’s past/family)…shadows appear and a fire sparks. Todd ends up dying due to a broken neck (hm). Luce ends up in hospital, Gabbe appears to be friendly and Luce learns that Daniel saved her and took her to the hospital.

Tye shadows play a part in the fire? In Todd’s death?

Chapter 9
At the end of Chpt 9, Daniel approaches & apologizes to Luce.

He mentions the lecture about Hell, Lucifer and his followers being something his family took.. interest in. To which Luce questions and he automatically gets defensive bc she assumes she knows him (after seeing orphan in his one-page file).

She is once again on his not-so-great side (lol).

Chapter 8 :

Luce thinks there’s something between Daniel and Molly or Gabbe because of their knowledge of him, as well as what she observed between him & Gabbe (Luce makes assumptions).

Daniel tells Luce that he has been “burned by a girl.” And that he isn’t looking to “get involved with anyone, not anytime soon.”

Luce is still convinced that the two have a past that she cannot put her finger on.

I loved the first book! I read it in likee…. 4 to 5 days (in between work and things). I just had to get the second book which I waited about two weeks for before I could check it out! This book is just as great :) More tension between the two main characters however a good kind with teasing and foreshadowing. Can’t wait to read moree
