James L Hayley 🌼 manages to put the history of Hawaii down in such a way that reminds me of the book “Empire of the Summer Moon”

I’m so glad I didn’t see the 3.7 star review before picking it up because so far it’s five stars for me! It puts the history into bite sized chunks that make you want to dive deeper into different topics. I’m soon to order the memoirs of Mrs. Laura Fish Judd.

The book is fantastic. It is Lyman Ward writing about the life of his grandmother, in particular, Susan Burling. Susan is a Milton girl who has three loves in her life: art, New York, and August. So far, Susan somewhat pursues Thomas who ends up with her friend Augusta. Her card she hadn’t played but had stacked for five years was Oliver Ward.
