For some reason it says I have no friends and shows only one person that I’m following. Anyone else have this problem?

Hooked, but the longer I listen to it, the more it reminds me of a movie. To the point where I think the movie is from the book. Apparently I’m not the only one, and apparently, it isn’t. The movie, “A Quiet Place”.

While starting chapter 17 I came to the realization that I hadn’t posted anything about my progress. Every time I pick up the book I find myself so engrossed that I simply forget. Which speaks volumes. It’s definitely a page turner, and while it starts slow, the further you get into it the harder it is the set down.

I’m kind of wanting a book about Zandie now LOL

I honestly haven’t read any of this book recently. It’s was just moving so slow. I’m not giving up on it, I’m just taking a break. Sometimes I enjoy a slow read. Just not currently.

It’s not very often I find a book that I consider quotable, so far this is one of those, I hope it stays that way.

I’m on page 116, the book is 478 pages long. I haven’t been reading this book for what feels like months. It’s so slow and I’m waiting for it to pick up pace.

Spending a little time this morning enjoying a fire, a cup of coffee, and reviewing some books I’ve read in the past.

I’m enjoying this much more than I thought I would. The short stories are creative and the narrators bring it to a level that simply reading it wouldn’t do. They breathe life into each story so far.

Hooked since the 1st paragraph

There is a hillside by the sea, atop which sits only grass and dirt, a line of swaying pines along the far side of a seldom-trod road, a treacherous bluff on the other. The call of ocean waves comes muffled to the top of the hill, sea spray rising from the crags below, filling the air with pale mist and the mouth with brackish distaste.

Out of curiosity, I took a look at another book written by this author. I had to see if all of her books were like this, or if this maybe is a bit of a fluke. So I started to read “What Never Happened”. Three chapters in and I had to tell myself to put it down and finish this one first. If I had to guess, I think she may have stepped out of her comfort zone writing fantasy.

I’m not sure what’s going on here. The story moves too fast and the writing is simple, like the type of style you would see in books written for young teenagers. There’s romance, ish, and it too is moving quickly.

But… I’m enjoying it. It’s a light read with interesting characters, just not well written. However, it does seem to get better the further into the book I get.

Struggling a little bit with the writing style. It’s very… simple? Plain? I’m not sure how to describe it. I also haven’t seen even a hint of a plot, but I’m only 38 pages in, so maybe it will pick up.
