read this while waiting for class and wasn’t absolutely mortified 🙏

went to read this waiting for class and decided that there are infinitely better ways to embarrass myself

i’m so stupid i can’t figure out how goodreads works apparently

anyhow. i do not like how scarlett’s manic episodes are portrayed in this infantilized light. stomping her foot, whining and pouting, kind of acting childish amidst the mania. ik the author has bipolar, but it just feels like scarlett is being written in such a way that feels uncomfortable

not quite feeling reading today but i needed to pass some time w my favorite book of the last few months :3 you’d think with the action and family drama that i’d be enraptured, but i fear that the chapter i read (21) felt slow and honestly a bit worse quality than previous ones

this beginning is kinda boring but im tryna push through. i DO like the conversations between julie and sam. the first one did feel a bit stiff but the one i just finished reading seems much more emotionally-charged on julie’s end. she’s desperate for answers sam can’t provide yk?

not much to say so far .. i have my suspicions on what’s going on though (but i don’t think they’re true simply bc this book doesn’t read like it drops crazy twists). a YA novel about love and grief — something that has to be written carefully to both be understood and for the message to carry fully.

i don’t read YAs. ever. so a part of me is a bit scared that i’ll DNF 💀🙏

i was going to talk about the one-bed trope and luc saving the day with his culinary skills BUT OH MY GOD.

i have been so underwhelmed by spicy scenes in books. BUT CHAPTER 20?? do not play with me. it was hot. it was sexy. it made my cheeks burn right in the living room. luc’s dirty talk is on a totally different level I NEED HIM to talk to me like that. 🌶️🌶️🌶️

went from a mildly sexy scene at the pool into lucian lore drop of why he quit the ice to emma all but forcing him to attend a wedding with her. then she straight up addressed the pool???? oh lucian my stupid angel. you just don’t know how not to fuck up. it’s ok. i will take you anyway

it is also so abundantly clear that the sexual tension has now ramped up lol

i’m starting to really like emma and lucian’s dynamic !! the banter. the argument. the lore drops. lucian saying he’d never hit her when she flinched. the apologies. the way they aren’t actually Good good but it’s not the end of the world. i need lucian so bad

i am SO in love with lucian so far. there’s something about the way he operates that i get. grieving losing what you built up (choosing life when you need it most), losing your way in the process, and closing yourself off to prevent heartbreak is so devastatingly beautiful.

i also find it so funny how emma and lucian are already freaking out over each other. a little fast for my tastes, but it’s done decently
