I decided to pick up this book during the month of November to gain a new perspective on the land we live one through the lens of an Indigenous scientist. So far the writing is very lush with sensory descriptions. There is a sense of urgency from the author to convey her message that is tempered by a call for the reader to return to their roots.

Loving the atmosphere and worldbuilding. I have a deeper appreciation for the slower pace of the story now that I’m older. With the descriptions of autumn and colder weather, it feels like the perfect read for this time of year. Tolkien’s characterizations are very endearing and I find myself loving the characters more with every chapter. Sam is by far my favorite.
