Hooked. Absolutely hooked. Love the 70s setting, the way the world was and how people spoke to one another, feeling so dragged in. It’s just getting occult-ish, darker and interesting now

Enjoying the cockiness of both characters and that she is inevitably going to fall for someone viewed as a murderous arsehole 🫶🏼

Unexpected sadness. 🥺 I knew her friendship with Ibriham would make me feel sad. That poor boy was mocked his whole life and even when he was a finalist in the Kejari the crowd was laughing at him. I feel for him even though there wasn’t much about him at all in this book. Good character to feel something for

Devouring the poly and the story and characters. I feel a betrayal coming on, don’t do her dirty Vincent!
And the slow burn is burning slooowww, I love it.

I LOVE THIS BOOK. Hooked instantly! The gore, the blood, the friendship.

Really love the start to this, it’s given a brief history to Oraya & what she is about to embark on and by page 50 she was already starting the tournament! I also love the family dynamic between her and Vincent! I can’t see him being turning into a villain, I hope he doesn’t!

Ooh the twists are good. I now believe that Sylas is a ghost! And that’s the man that Marjorie loved, bcus horse reference. But I don’t think he’s the murderer?
Spice is very YA and tame

Enjoying the growing relationship between Death and Signa, and what her powers may develop into, and her growing interest in Sylas- it’s very innocent and not spicy at all which is a nice switch up from other books I’ve read lately😂

Bought a sample to see if I liked it, and it’s actually held my attention really well so far!

I like the FMC’s character and personality, she seems interesting and so far not written like many other FMCs I’ve read… let’s hope she’s not written like a stick insect and utterly useless and hopeless until a dashing older man comes along and saves/helps her…

Ok, didn’t see the twist coming- and it’s a good one, clever.
So, now I’m thinking of Aurens history and why it seems like she was hiding from people (men specifically) has she always been gifted with the gold touch and people tried to kidnap her, use her etc when she was in the slums?
Did Midas find her, protect her, then promise to help her in exchange for her gift and to ascend the throne?

You get very little of the friendship that blooms between Auren and Sail, but their friendship is honest, raw, and sweet. So I did tear up at page 273 because I felt so sad for the both of them

It’s been really easy to follow, the story is fast-ish paced, which I like- it’s not taking forever to get to a point and there’s more character history and depth coming now as well
