Rich's introduction is great. Savage, but I feel that our views on poetry share many kin. I found at least four major paragraphs just as relevant and, sadly, more pervasive in poetry nearly 30 years later.

Hollander and I do really gel taste-wise. I don't think he likes poems that are inviting or well-edited. He has rather indiscriminate taste that feels more politically gladhanding than soulfully engaged.

Yikes. Coming off of the possible GOAT of the series (Bly's '99 edition), Hollander's taste is... not quite as engaging or distinctive.

I might end up being wrong, but thisnis on track to be the GOAT 🐐 of the series for me.

Bly is throwing a heater so far. I haven't read a poem I find mediocre in the batch yet.

So far, so good. Thus far, Robert Bly's anthological sensibilities and poetic taste align with my own.
