I just finished reading Chapter 8 and the prediction that Changez would move back to Pakistan for good is starting to seem correct as on page 116 Changez hinted that this was his last winter in the United States. I am really worried about the mental health of Changez. With Erica drifting away slowly people are starting to notice something in him. I wonder if Changez is ever going to talk to Erica again.

I just finished reading page 103 and I see how Changez is starting to get mad. Earlier in the book I made a prediction that he was going to move back to Pakistan because of all the post 9/11 stereotypes of Arabic people and I see how that could potentially become a reality in the next few chapters. I think there's a chance that Erica is going to start drifting away from Changez because of the death of Chris.

I was surprised that Erica was willing to hang out with Changez after the attacks. I also just want to point out how terrible the timing was that Changez was flying home right when the attacks were happening. I was surprised that they did not hold Changez at the airport for longer, as soon as the agent gave him that rude response I did not think he was going to be able to leave the airport until a couple days after.

I just finished reading page 60 and the book is starting to reveal more about who Changez is. Based on his interactions with Erica in my opinion he seems like a shy guy when he was in America. In Pakistan he seems awesome and not socially awkward at all but his American Self seems a little bit different to me. It's very interesting because this is before 9/11 and he is surrounded by other Pakistanis.

I just finished reading page 40 and I have to say I am extremely impressed how the author goes from the conversation he is having with the American to his Princeton experience and he just keeps going back and forth. I'm underwhelmed by what happened on his trip to Greece with Erica. I really thought they would take the next step and start dating but I am intrigued to see what happens next.

After reading the first chapter and a half of the Reluctant Fundamentalist I see why they just don't call it the Fundamentalist. So far I’ve felt a very reluctant and sassy tone in Changez. The main area where I felt a reluctant tone was in the Underwood Samsung Interview. He seems like a person that never gives up but he also seems very nice. I am very curious to see what ends up happening with Erica.

I just finished the book and looking back I think Larry Watson did a really good job painting a picture in my head of the entire book. I did not think that Grandpa would send his men to the house. I kind of just thought he would go by himself. I will always wonder what kind of mental illness Frank had, whether it was something he was born with or whether it was something he got from his time in the military.

I'm starting to question if the Hayden house is even a safe living space anymore. There is someone that is messed up in the head imprisoned in their basement and what makes it even more scary to me is Dad told David “If Grandpa tries to come in don't let him in”. I think that's absurd for a 12-year-old to handle and puts David in an extremely tough spot. Could this mean that David potentially gets hurt.

It is really interesting that the parents still aren't being transparent with David. In that one scene where Wes called David over to see the house walls I thought that was it and the parents were about to tell david. I think David is in a bit of an awkward situation right now because he doesn't have honest parents. If that were me and I knew about the situation I would lose a lot of trust with my parents.

Right when Marie died I thought it was pretty obvious that Frank had something to do with this and I wasn't sure what was going to happen with David. But now after reading this and knowing that he saw it, I think he is going to come fully out to his parents and tell them about the conversation he had with Len as well. My question is are they going to have enough evidence to arrest Uncle Frank.

I finished reading Pages 63 to 77 and that was a lot to take in. Early in the section it was really crazy to me that David had to watch his aunt and uncle have intercourse, that must have be very traumatizing. Then boom Marie dies I think it is very suspicious that right after Frank got Confronted and there was a death. My prediction is that David was eavesdropping again and might have something to say about this.

I just finished reading page 63 and wow Grandpa does not have a filter. All my predictions about why Uncle Frank did what he did were not even close and the crazy part about it was, he was super young. I thought it was interesting that at the beginning of the section his parents were starting to blow their cover to David and I'm surprised they haven't realized that David, knows based on the questions he is asking.

I kind of feel like the first 11 pages are David introducing our setting. It seems like although bentrock is remote he doesn't hate living there. I think it is cool that his family ran this small town Sheriff's Office and If it wasn't for them It would have gone away. I'm getting a bit of a feeling that the parents are divided. I don't know if it's just me but I feel like there could be a fight between them coming

I just read pages 22 - 42 and wow that was a lot. At the start of this section I felt like it was mainly just the author formally introducing Frank and talking about how great of a guy he was and all his achievements. Then as I kept reading and David overheard that conversation on his parents, I was shocked. It all made sense now why Marie didn't want a doctor my and predictions were completely wrong.

After 22 pages the story is finally starting to connect back to the prologue. If I had to make a prediction it would be that the mom did shoot Marie. It says earlier in the story that the mother did keep her kids away from any sort of coughing or anything like that and Marie is very sick so it would definitely make sense that she would have ended all the stress and upkeep of having a sick housekeeper.

I feel like the first 11 pages of our story is our narrator setting the scene and just mainly talking about his life, his parents life and how remote his county is. I think it is cool that his family ran this small town Sheriff's Office and kind of kept it running, it really seems like they are loyal to their community and proud to be from Bentrock.
