I am so sick of this. Who let this raasclaat book meander so long??

Honestly? This might be too much for me.

Surely I am not the only person to read this who finds McMurphy just... tiring?

In 2015, I packed a box of books, and mislabeled that I had read them all. Imagine my delight upon opening that box last week, and finding that I hadn't read any of them yet! I suddenly have like 50 new books that I forgot I owned!

I guess it's odd that i am reading a biography of an author whose novels i was never able to finish.

In utterly mystified by the rhapsodic reception this book received from so sources.

I've gotten through half this book feeling like I can barely pay attention to it. Currently I'm a distracted reader, but this is also far from Spark's best.

I don't think I've ever would have picked this up had i not loved Tomorrow, and Tomorrow... Even after a handful of pages, it's clear that Zevin has come a LONG way between this and that.

There are descriptive passages in this book that are so detailed and mundane, you have to think it's a joke. A tedious, bewildering, not at all funny joke.

There are SEVEN volumes of this?? Goodness, no thank you. I am having trouble dragging myself through the scant 160 pages of the first one.

Wow. That is one psychologically tedious narrator. Sometimes, you absolutely don't want to know what is going on inside someone's head.

Picking this up, i thought maybe I am too old to care much for stories about college students, but i have been captivated from the very start.

My brain needs a rest, and I think this will do nicely.

Chapter 1: induces a case of the Ick stronger than rubbing raw chicken on your face.
Chapter 2: Monosyllabic and irritating AF.
What incomparable joys will Chapter 3 hold?

Interesting, mostly, but a little hard to read. Think it would good to break this up & not plow through start to finish.

It takes a minute to get drawn into this, but once you are, it's tough to put down.

The cover is so good I'm not sure that I even care if the book is.

Not a light read, you know? Thankfully, Anderson's writing is extremely accessible.

Off to a terrible start, but i am interested in the Taiwanese setting, so I continue.

I'm not sure what to make of this, but so far I don't dislike it.

A biography about a female evangelist is an unusual choice for me, but it's good so far.

disappointing so far.

I've bought this book in the 90s, and as i begin to make my way through it, i wish I had picked it up sooner. Travel writing can bloviate
tediously, but Chatwin is precise and lapidary.

If I had a child as odious as Louisa, I would send it back to the factory for a reset, because surely this piece of merchandise is defective.

Why am I reading a history of exercise & fitness? I don't know, but it's just interesting enough to keep going.

This is so good.

This is all right, but it's rather slow, and keeps referring to events that happened in one of the previous novels in the series. I haven't read that, so it's a little confusing... and irritating too.

Some dude on the internet said this was good, and so far, I don't disagree.
