This book is definitely make for people who watched Descendants as a kid.

I just had a realization what time period is this?? There’s time bombs but things feel 1800s otherwise? A timed bomb feels too modern for this setting

Every villain a protagonist of a story falls in love with has to drink a gallon of respect women juice. All around it’s okay… the audio reader is up there with the worst though. This is definitely an insta pine story. Idk, maybe a 3 rn definitely not a 4

I’m teetering on interesting to wanting to strangle Beth. This reads similar to a classic book.

I hope part of the intent was Mare making bad decisions and not realizing Mavin’s betrayal but I feel like there’s scarlet guard also makes terrible decisions. I wish I was out of Mare’s head and into the head of a different character occasionally.

So far I like it a little less than the 8.2 I gave it when I was 15ish, but it is better than the 20% I read of Powerless. Maybe because this book is a little less insta horny. I feel like there’s a purpose to the plot. Don’t know how the king is even able to convince that Mare is silver. I need a different pov where they know. How can they say she never bleed before?
