So my last book update I was impressed that Simon told his police partner about his visions, didn't run into danger and used the police tip line.... Well thighs have definitely changed in that front. Why do authors think their characters have to be all self sacrificing and run into danger without a plan? SMH tut tut tut very disappointing. We were doing so well.

Wow, Simon was told that something was dangerous and ACTUALLY took precautions. I better check outside and see if pigs are flying. This never happens in books. Doesn't Morgan Brice (author) know that characters are meant to act stupid, not tell anyone their plan and run into danger? So nice to see Simon warning others about the murderer, use police tip line and actually tell his partner about visions. Revolutionary!

Can't remember exactly when this happened but he lost his arm and they mention it a bit. A few sentences after one mention it says "I crossed my arms and leaned back". Not a big deal but something the editor should have caught.

(I am doing this as an audiobook so not sure about spelling). I remember in the last book being frustrated when Sias was very upset because Dallas said he was pretty much using him for sex but they addressed it in this book and he admitted that he was but now isn't and that makes both books a lot better. I felt like I was being gaslit in the last book when everyone was saying he wasn't.

I went back to the last book in the series and read the last 4 chapters before starting this book. (I had a long time between reading the 2nd book and this one). While this book does explain what has happened previously it isn't more explaining but quick reminders. So I definitely recommend doing a quick skim of the other books if it has been a while

So we just found out that Maddox has cheated on every boyfriend and girlfriend he has ever had but....checks notes... felt bad so told them. But has decided to be single for the past 5 years so he won't cheat. (And can sleep with more people) But we are meant to be rooting for this relationship with him and Caleb?
What did Caleb do to deserve such a terrible love interest? I get that people change but ewww

Bit of a mistake. At the end of the last chapter she said he wasn't giving him a job and in this chapter he is saying she did give him a job.

I am not sure how I feel about this. Cassandra is making herself seem so shallow. Eg 'They were super racist against black people I had a great time hehe'
So in some ways it is interesting but in others she is getting out of so many bad situations by being incredibly lucky and doesn't seem to realise that. I am wondering if later on her opinion will change. It is interesting to see how she thinks but frustrating

I felt like this book could have ended at 50%. Like that is where most authors would have ended the romance. I am kinda happy that didn't happen. However it is a little strange to start up a whole caught case 60% of the way through with a mystery. I really don't think there is enough time to sort that out. I kinda wish they were working on this case and then the mum got involved. Then the case would have more time.

Such a satisfying story. So many stories have an older boss who treats the younger person really badly and the younger person just decides they like this. This however is the opposite. Enzo started off wanting to treat Seven badly but wasn't allowed. He was called out for wanting to have an unfair arrangement and changes his behaviour. There is also time for their relationship to grow. So far I would 100% recommend.

Well that epilogue ending came out of nowhere. I don't think it can count as a happily every after. It was sorta happy and a tradegy at the same time.
The book made me feel icky. Maybe it hits too close to home because of the Epstein files and reminded me too much of that situation.
I only finished it in hopes that the ending would make me move on from this book and forget about it. Which I think it will. Weird tho

Okay, it got better after 73%. Still not the best. I think there is meant to be a 'twist' in the next book about who the murderer is but there aren't enough characters. So it is very obvious. Maybe I am too old for this book, but there is content that I believe does sit right with how simple the mysteries are.
I may do the next book because I have already borrowed it as audio at my library so it is easy and quick.

I just find it hard when one character has no redeemable qualities except for being attractive. I know people love a sunshine character vs a grumpy one but Gabriel is just mean. Miles gets softened to him because he 'cares about his brother' but that is just him not being horrible to him. Miles gives so much to every interaction with both of them and it is SO one sided. It is feeling like a tragedy. Very interesting.

The first book was very sweet. It was strange going straight from 1-2 as it feels like the character goes backwards slightly. I assume this was because book one needed a tidier ending.
Book two has a lot of triggers in it. Eg watching young boys work out without their consent. Sexual manipulation. Drugged sex. Honestly it made me uncomfortable especially before I knew that the boy was actually a man who 'consented'

I paused reading this series for a while because I really didn't like the love interest. I read another review and they complained that It looked like the love interest was person A bit was actually a different person. I then read the summary again and saw they were right. So starting up this book again. Hope it is good.
