this family is falling apart anyway it’s book 7 time

This was like the "business" book for the first few chapters but now its the "party" book, there's just parties every time that last like 4 chapters til the next party happens. Why do they all want to marry a 16 year old!!!!!!

Okayy we in Book 5 now. I think Dolokhov is the most insufferable character in this novel and I fail to see (unless something happens later) how some other people think Andrew is the worst. Natalya also sucks.

I wish Tolstoy would give actual ages because I know it's weird when people propose to Sonya at 16 while they're 27 [dolokhov moment] but I have no clue how old Natasha is, but I assume shes <18, Denisov >20.

THERE ARE CHAPTERS WHERE NOTHING HAPPENS AND THEN THERE ARE CHAPTERS WHERE BOOKS HAPPEN.

End of Book 3 -- lots going on!! Poor guys are getting thrashed and Tolstoy making me feel bad for them. I thought I spoiled myself when I was flipping through the book by accidentally reading but turns out that spoiler was wrong, actually.

Why doesn't Tolstoy genuinely just give full names or first names and mention ages. Why do I have to read an extra 100 or 200 pages to learn someones full name and approximate age. Tolstoy give information about characters challenge: impossible.

At Book 3 now. I think Book 2 was much better than Book 1 - not just a bunch of talking and moving around between mostly disjointed characters but actual events that have effects on everyone we met so far. I guess Book 1 was more like a really long intro to everyone and everything.

We are in Book 2 now oh yeah.

Character I didn’t like has redeemed herself so far :)

It’s finally getting interesting yippee. Also, apparently this is a translation that people either love or hate. I think it’s fine so far.

Basically back to where I was before lol man I made no progress on it. Enjoying it a little better than the first time tho I think!

I had to restart because I read like 5 books in between starting this one. I also made a new obsidian map to keep track of who the hell everyone is and what they actually do in this book because, at least in the beginning with Annette’s party, there’s so many people introduced who either say way too much or say almost nothing at all.
