Highly disappointed in the first half - this entire woman’s life is about this man - with almost no dialogue to help me care at all about their relationship or why she likes him. Also the intellectualism feels surface-level in some ways, like name dropping authors or books but not going deeper into the ideas of the texts or how the characters are engaging with them.

DNF. I’ve been told that the world building is worth it, but reading about another 19 year old being pedphilicly seduced by a 500 year old immortal, Twilight style, is not something I’m willing endure again. When will we be done with this trope. Also, she apparently wrote the book in only a few weeks and it shows.

Just absolutely fantastic - not a new take, but truly so universal and beautiful and tragic
