In a time travel book, each era is the same prose and style. So I’m lost in a time travel book because it’s not really adapting to capture that time? Still waiting to care about these characters if by 50% of the way through I still don’t care I’m just gonna skim the rest of this book to the end cos I don’t like to dnf 😂

I’m like 25% through and I do not care about the characters 😶 I was trying to do the “try new genres,” try the whole sci-fi thing… I’m just questioning why do people rave about this? Is there sci-fi books a quarter of the way through I can actually emotionally invest in the characters… does this actually get better! I’m asking for a friend 🫠

Getting past how it’s written I do actually like the characters and see how there’s the start of character development as they challenge each other. I want to see Daisy grow up some more

😬 why did everyone hype this? The writing style.. I can’t with this. It worked with Evelyn Hugo but for some reason isn’t working with Daisy. It’s too “telling” and less building? Might not finish jus being honest 🫣🤔

Something light, fun and easy to read, exactly what I’m craving after finishing My Dark Vanessa

Loving the level of detail to mental health in this. I’m so glad she has such a good therapist! This is so well written as the therapist gets to the root and the reader is unravelling these truths at the victims pace. It’s honestly like you’re in the therapy room with them. This is something so hard to do successfully but Russell has nailed it!

“I can’t lose the thing I’ve held on to for so long. You know?” My face twists up from the pain of pushing it out. “I just really need it to be a love story. You know? I really, really need it to be that.” “I know,” she says. “Because if it isn’t a love story, then what is it?”
My heart breaks for her!

Omg my heart is breaking.. definitely a slower read to get through this without the overwhelm. Check trigger warnings ❤️
