this book is starting to drag it starts off so strong and is now starting to feel a bit repetitive and just kinda slow. chapter 11 felt so unnecessary. to be honest, if the information was really that important (which in my opinion it really isn't) it should've just been added into the last fern chapter rather than get it's own.

we have just discovered that fern has known about the affair since manchester, and is likely enjoying the game of pretending not to know anything. things are getting interesting.

this last chapter mostly just further developed drew's stalker behavior and his obsession with alice. he's very quick to make excuses for his actions and explain away his lack of remorse or guilt. i also found it interesting how much he seems to care about fern's perception of him, despite being "in love" with another woman, so much so that even fern notices this tendency.

nothing particularly fantastic to report. honestly, the only new inform we've gotten is that drew is nowhere near as subtle as he thinks he is. we've also been given a bit more crumbs that suggests that fern isn't completely innocent. she's definitely a pathological liar and operates under a "dumb woman" persona. she seems very focused on drew's charming personality and i believe that to be foreshadowing of some sort

i'm still mostly operating under the same opinions as before. i suspect fern (what kinda name is that btw) will be using the blackmail we just learned about when she discovers the affair later on in the book. drew is definitely stalking alice and definitely thinks he's hot stuff. pushing 40 btw. he's too old to be doing all this tbh.

so far, i'm still in a neutral position. i'm very irritated by fern/the way she is being portrayed. drew is extremely suspicious and i know damn well something's up with him. this book is very my giving that song "he's my man". like to the nth degree. the next chapter is a drew pov which i wasn't expecting but hopefully i can get some answers...

so far this book has the potential to be good or bad. i'm excited to figure out the lore regarding the woman and the body. my current prediction is that the woman at the window is married to the dead body and she discovered that he had an affair and killed him out of anger. perhaps it's an "if i can't have you no one can" scenario. i'm not the biggest fan of the righting style, but it's readable.
