I think it is profoundly impressive to not only have mastery of - so far - three totally distinct registers and tones but also to handle the pacing of these sections totally differently. Not novel per se but on this scale and to this level is remarkable

There’s a really interesting comment in Chapter 1 where they ask “why were veteran homelessness rates the only genre of homelessness that got any political attention last election cycle”… I sort of wonder if that’s because the median Anglo-(American) mind views homelessness as a personal moral failing, and simultaneously views veterans as morally infallible… much to think about there

Lay people without a handle on basic stats are not reading this… you can use actual stats :)

Book 3 had me in a place where I couldn’t put the book down, Book 4 is a lot more narratively driven in a way such that it’s kinda letting a lot of the linguistic/philosophy driven themes go to the back burner, which is fine but I can already tell my overall review is going to be massive lol.

I have almost dropped this book 3 times now
