Slow which is making it a struggle to stay engaged.

I've been told that, even if I hate it, I'm to say I love it. Says my teenager... 😄

I'm intrigued. There's a lot going on yet, at the same time, it's a bit slow.

Now this is what I'm talking about! It's off to a fantastic start! First book I've starred in a long while that has me wanting to stay up late reading! 🤞

What do I think? It's Harry Potter. Duh. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Struggle-bussin' with this one. The narrator does not help this book at all... she does a distinctly Irish accent for a very British character. 🤯 as to how that got through! So far it's too far-fetched which makes it hard to get into.

I'm not hating it but I'm definitely not hooked. A plus for the audio- one of my favorite narrators so that helps.

Rereading to prep for book 2. Almost done, and it's still a 5 ⭐️ read for me! The MMC...shew, the yearning. The FMC is, at times, irritating, but I feel like that's done intentionally so you see her growth.

Absolutely on the struggle bus to get through this. No where near the level of Metal Slinger. So disappointed...and sooo bored.

Reread to remind me of its greatness before starting Light Wielder!

It's YA (not new adult/college) but there is subject matter that middle schoolers (who often read YA) should not be reading about. Even if it were an adult novel, it DEFINITELY should have trigger warnings. I'm not a fan of constant rape threats among adult characters, even more so among teenagers.

36% in and currently bored to pieces. Trudging on a bit longer...

Likely will be a DNF. I despise the miscommunication trope. Why do authors think this trope suffices for a good plot? I'm teetering at the constant use of "their/them" in reference to a female character. We are not plural beings. You are male or female. They have magic but they are all humans, not some mystical, non-human being. Add the continual reference to a character as "he" yet "his" period just finished. Nope.

Pretty sure this is going to be smut with maybe an odd plot thrown in ... somewhere. It's not intrigued me enough to not be able to put it down. Not a DNF ...yet, anyway.
