I am enjoying the lyrical prose and wish I could remember where I got the recommendation for this novel.

Wow, just one page in and I'm already swooning from the beautiful, lyrical and somehow totally realistic prose.

I'm already enjoying this to the extent I think I will need to reatrict my reading time or risk getting nothing else done.

Er war ein Kartoffelkenner, wie andere Leute Weinkenner sind. Er konnte die Herkunft der Kartoffeln schmecken. Und das Erstaunlichste, er schmeckt die Herkunft auch dann, wenn die Kartoffeln gekocht, gebraten, gemust waren. Er schmeckt sogar ihre Lage heraus, so wie andere Leute Weinlagen herausschmecken.

Oh my goodness this is good! I'm going to be pushing it on big time.

I would recommend this book both to look back on your own teen years and to anticipate your daughter's.
