The narratives accompanying each photograph are often more interesting than the photos themselves. While many of the photos do seem like they could be in a Wes Anderson film, several of the still life photos are merely symmetrical and pastel-hued without any film-worthy basis.

Excellent! Finally reading some classic works and connecting them to fragments I’ve heard many times over the years.

I have a new appreciation for GED’s role in pushing the band to be a commercial success. He has described himself as lazy but that’s just self deprecation. He’s actually the epitome of Driven.

Chapter 3, the recounting of his parent’s experiences in the concentration camps, was riveting and moving. What a story of love and resilience.

It should be required reading. Everyone concerned with the state of our country (and the world) given the rise of nationalism. It is helpful to learn the roots of past revolutions and how different leaders navigated them.

Excellent historical context about the Dutch empire.
