Goddammit, Natasha. I did not expect this "slow read" to make me so stressed!!!

This is... deeply unpleasant... but I need to know the answer to the mystery!

I'm a bit confused right off the bat. Eunice is in 8th grade, but when her dad mentions being "on the board" of a wildlife preserve she thinks he means lumber?

I'm following this well enough, I suppose, but I'm not really sure where it's going or what it's saying.

Third time's a charm? I was familiar with the story of The Odyssey from childhood retellings; I first "read" it in college (skimming was involved). I read it again (for real, this time) in 2018 and found it intolerably boring. This third time is inspired by the Zero to Well-Read inaugural read-along. I'm reading the Emily Wilson translation, which seems a lot fresher and newer than what I've previously read.

I'm trying really hard with this one, but geez. Every paragraph is like this:

"Thank you for that. I am extremely realistic and have no misconceptions of the roles I am allowed to play in the white movie world," Lena said. "But I would never want it to be at someone else's expense. Especially someone of your stature who has paved the way for aspiring actors like myself."

So far it’s more about the avant garde music industry in the 1970s and the sexual discontent of married men than anything else.

Kind of slow to get started; only one truly creepy thing has happened so far. Plus I think I’m going to have some thoughts to share about men writing about women’s sexuality.

I'm growing more and more skeptical of self-help books (and yet I keep reading them). This one caught my attention because the authors have actual cred -- one with Apple/EA and one in leadership at the d.school at Stanford).

This book is stressing me out so much 😅

Today I learned that ADHD is "imaginary" and instead of taking your cat to a vet, you should "let your animal heal by itself."

This man needs to start a meditation practice and go to therapy.

Good lord. I don't know if I'm going to be able to finish this. I'm still in the prologue and he's used the word "sissy" four times. Is it 1950?

I've read this before, but apparently it never made it into Goodreads. It was probably over a decade ago, so it's well past time for a re-read.

So I'm actually reading the translation of the original novel along with the Webtoon, although I can't find a record for the novel. Anyway, this translation is clunky, but I can't handle reading only one episode a week of the webtoon!

Haha only 551 chapters to go I'm not regretting this decision at all.
