While Whiskey and Tango are as funny as ever this book has some issues. The unnecessary time jump to 24 hours earlier apparently just to introduce Lassie and also acting as if we should know the Tango lookalike.

This book is a great improvement on the first. I just wish that authors would stop casting suspicions on their main characters, because we know they are never going to be the culprit. And in some cases it actually reveals the real criminal.

The Humor in this Book is off the charts. A tiny bit of a description for honey badgers „Their totem animal is Chuck Norris.“

It is interesting to note that this book‘s murder is even more in the background than usual. This is the first time that they actively sat down and reviewed the information.

Whiskey's reaction to the mystery author's story about testing a theory on dead cats with the help of her imaginary friends was just hilarious. And actually a very nice way to show the difference between irony and sarcasm.

I love these cat and dog conversations. And Tango admonishing Foxtrott for not sitting properly for her to get comfortable. Grin.

Well, it only took her being locked up in a dungeon to stop to think and profile again instead of mindlessly running at danger.

This is a complete change of tone compared to the first one. Gone is the profiling and crime solving. Instead we have depression and instalove. Make the dialogue a little more sappy and this would be Twilight.

Wondered the entire book why the contamination of Del‘s phantom form wasn’t mentioned. Normally the author is big on constant reminders. Well, as she just decided against turning into a phantom because glowing blue and bright would attract demons, the answer is another continuation error.

Aw, mommy loves you after all! That literally came out of nowhere. Though if the author hadn’t inserted motherly affection at this point and Del saying it back, then the seeker series wouldn’t have matched Cass‘ story anymore.

A the usual „I am a monster“ monologue. Kudos, however, for the unusual argument. It is ok to steal someone’s soul, they were all evil anyways. Not many books go that way. Though admittedly, as demons from hell They can either spend the rest of eternity in the fiery pit or with the mind of a boxed wine swilling and lucky charm obsessed girl as their only entertainment. Choices, choices!

The fight scenes are one of the greatest weaknesses in this series as they always follow the same formula with the males changing to their winged form and the females launching an elemental attack (constricted space or enemies blocking multiple times in a row doesn’t change this. Del just proved the most ineffective fighter. Unable to adapt to the situation she only took out 1/9 enemies.

There are basically two kinds of romance novels, humorous and dramatic ones. I always preferred the former, but when it came to the latter, I the ones with misery as a result of failure to communicate the worst. And Dark Fae starts like that. In the first chapter alone something like sadness flashed across Roan's features because of something Cass said. 😑

I'm not sure about this one. The plot is basically straight out of a bad romance novel, where a girl gets kidnapped, added to a harem and falls in love with her captor. Where is the fantasy? Mystical creatures, political intrigue, a dig against religion, high magic, etc.

Good world building and dragons are always a plus, but I all scenes seem disjointed. As of yet there is no discernible plot aside from a political conspiracy that seems unrelated to the main characters and an obscure prophecy.

haven't read the previous books and therefore trouble looking the characters. almost a third of the book read and besides one attack not much happened besides shipping from one port to the next. find it rather boring.
