Interesting. The narrator seems to view the passing of his mother as an inconvenience rather than a tragedy. His boss seems to view it the same way. He speaks of it all very matter of factly. Seems irritated at any point of connection or feeling- the crying of his mother’s friend, the shaking of hands at the end of the vigil. It occurs to me I don’t have the right to judge someone’s reaction to death.
