26 pages of the train scene… Aciman is always like this though. Very long scenes and very long chapters. Yet still captivating

Now that we are in the rising action, I’m enjoying the book a lot more. The lore is rich and well explained. It doesn’t feel like there’s lore dumps but that there’s lore in each sensory experience. I’m enjoying that piece.

A little too quick and on the nose so far. Every chapter heavily has to do with Sebastian Grimm and I’m not getting much else about our main characters life. I understand he’s bad at magic and that his father is forcing him to go to school. I get how the magic works. But also he seems to have an obsession with Grimm.

So far very much enjoying our resolution and am excited to read the ending

I feel like Mattis reaction was very out of character for him. He’s typically very calculated and I know that the author meant to have it be like an emotional reaction that changes his behaviour but I felt it was a bit too extreme. Then Luca getting beat?? AGAIN?? Like brother has been through it this time!

Very good so far however the book has quite a bit of lore drops that don’t necessarily add to the story. I’d love to see them mean something further.

So far there is incredible world-building but not much focus on the relationship building of the main characters. I see lots of lust but not much romance to be honest.

I am struggling to will myself to continue reading this garbage and i’m only 1/3 of the way through it. Jeremy is insufferable, the plot is garbage and the unnecessary descriptions make me want to hurl it off the CN.
