A military academy with the organisation and discipline of a preschool

I can see why the peruvian military didn’t like this

I’m reading this while in Lima, Peru 🇵🇪

a comic about the earlier life of a polish jew and its sudden consumption by nazism

the only groups shown as human (strengths and flaws) are the jewish mice

the poles have been shown as cowardly pigs

the germans as malicious cats

perhaps this is the message of the book: how easy it is to stereotype whole peoples into a select few negatives, and the potentially catastrophic consequences

Moses has definitely had the most page-time of any person so far

Some laws are quite interesting: what is and is not clean, and how to practice dermatology and epidemiology

Some are less interesting, like how to decorate a tent or dress

Overall, a holy person should always be killing an animal, burning food, and killing other people

Killing is also explicitly forbidden

God promised the land of israel (much bigger than modern israel) to abraham’s children (include ishmael and isaac)

ishmael: father of arabs

god later changes israel to only be for isaac (no reason given)

Isaac: father of Esau and Jacob (father of Jews)

Jacob tricks his Esau out of his inheritance and lets his mother take the curse for him as punishment

shambles from god (common theme throughout genesis)

Every other chapter, the story delves into a different subplot about someone in lima

we have had a doctor called into action at his niece’s wedding and a policeman forced to deal with a mysterious manic migrant

the continuous plot about the titular scriptwriter and his aunt is far more mundane

i presume they will collide

i hope lima brings this out of me also
