The book continues to grip me and I’m upset its coming to an end:) Stoner is left in a position of no power, due to Lomaxs passive aggressive hatred towards stoner. The fact he’s using stoners affair as fuel against him is mind boggling. Edith is also contributing towards stoners happiness as per usual, i’m extremely happy he’s finally found a woman to love in the ways he deserves to.

Stoners long lasting depression is finally coming to an end upon his affair and newly found love for Katherine. he explained how he feels as though his life has no meaning even though earlier on in the novel, when he first becomes a professor he believes his life finally had meaning. I feel as though this is a huge turning point in Stoners life. Hopefully for the better!!

Stoner being comfortable with only being happy now and then shows his selflessness. Whilst his wife Edith is still trying to actively ruin his life in any which way she can. He started to love his life and Edith rejected this. I hate Edith…

All i can say is stoners life is full of misery. Her father and mother have now died an his pathetic wife didn’t even try to comfort him. Edith continues to show a lack of emotion even when her own father passes. One moment that really showed me her selfishness is when she would play piano for hours after her daughter falls asleep. Or when she would redirect conversations to herself.

Ive started to see the sincere kindness shown by stoner, on the contrary I’ve seen the complete disregard and disassociation Edith has for anyone else other then herself and i hate her…

Very good. He marries Edith and early on in his marriage realises they aren’t right together. Shes longing for adventure and feels as though william has ruined opportunity’s she once had. Stoner finds himself in a complicated situation. The girl he once loved and was infatuated with now cant look at him. He has sexual desires she doesn’t share and he feels lustful for having these thoughts.

Gripped me from the first few pages. Tells the tale of a young man in the early 20th century, searching for purpose in life other than agriculture and finds that from literature. Dealing with hardships and struggles with family and friends, he has to battle to overcome them. I liked the Masters n thought he died too early, i like Sloane as-well as Stoners father.
