To read this book is to open oneself to devastation. Every page seems to question “how far can one go?” To what lengths can one fight prejudice and injustice and racism?
If Beale Street Could Talk is a love story of Tish and Fonny where the true value of family is pushed and stretched and stripped of dignity.
Haunted by circumstance, they will fight for their own, but at what cost?

A perfect companion to Tim O’Brien’s The Things They Carried - an honest collection of Vietnam stories from the perspective of a grunt. O’Brien crafts his stories in a way that the lie tells the truth of the horrors of war. Herr, a press observer, tells the truth of the lies of war. Horror.
