It’s really interesting!! I’m at the part where the women discover a building after having left the bunker. They’ve been walking for a while looking for something, anything after having spent a few nights in a cabin close to the bunker in order to collect resourses the guards left behind.

The book goes into the struggles of starting an orphanage and dealing with kids who have gotten used to survival in a harsh environment. It goes quite deep into the philosophy that Janusz’s work was built on. That every child is an individual that deserves respect and that child’s every experience matters.

Getting the backstory of a boy named Henrick. He grew up in a rich, jewish family. He has a melancholy mind and we learn how he tries to cope with grief and loneliness, first when his beloved canary dies, then when his grandma dies and his father gets a disease that causes him to be in and out of a mental hospital which starts costing a lot of money. The family is no longer rich.
